Massage
and You...

There are many known physical and psychological benefits to massage therapy. Massage helps to remove metabolic waste, detoxifies the lymphatic system and helps calm the nervous system. Massage can also be used to alleviate pain from sports or other injuries. Available styles of massage include:

Medical Massage – Medical massage addresses postural distortions, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff strain, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel, piriformis syndrome, shin splints, chondro–malacia, plantar fascitis and various other aliments diagnosed by a physician and in conjunction with a doctors' ongoing care and treatment advice.

Deep Tissue – This technique utilizes structural integration to better align the body. Due to habitual poor posture during walking, sitting, standing etc. the body's connective tissue surrounding muscles can shorten and tighten. With the use of structural integration that deep tissue therapy provides, the body can begin to be more correctly aligned.

Sports/Athletic Massage – Athletic massage enables athletes to attain their highest potential by acceleration of the body’s natural restorative process by reducing the chance of injury and enabling them to participate more often in rigorous physical training, ultimately extending the career of the athlete. Massage helps combat the “negative” effects of exercise such as metabolic waste build up, muscle micro trauma and strains, muscle inflammation, as well as spasms and pain which restrict movement.

Trigger Point Therapy – Trigger Points are hypersensitive areas that refer pain to other areas of the body. These areas indicate dysfunction. By deactivating the trigger points, the referred pain and dysfunction will decrease; ultimately pain in the surrounding muscle and area of referral will be reduced and better muscle function can be restored.

Myofascial Release – A technique that blends stretching and hands on muscle manipulation to alleviate restrictions in the muscle tissue caused by scarring or injury to the muscle tissue. This technique can benefit people with back pain, fibromyalgia, recurring headaches, sports injuries and various other issues associated with muscle pain and tension and is best performed in collaboration with a physician's diagnosis and recommended treatment.

Neuromuscular Therapy – “Neuromuscular Therapy is a comprehensive program of soft tissue manipulation techniques that balance the central nervous system with the structure and the form of the musculo–skeletal system. NMT is based on neurological law that explains how the central nervous system maintains homeostatic balance. These same laws dictate how the central nervous system initiates & perpetuates pain response and controls the musculoskeletal system.” – St. John Neuromuscular Therapy.
